PS5 restock has landed at almost every major retailer this week, but there’s been one exception: Best Buy.
If online rumors are to be believed, that’s soon about to change — as the electronics retailer may well be gearing up for a sizeable stock drop today (March 5). If true, it’ll offer those still on the hunt for Sony’s next-gen console a great opportunity to start the weekend off by securing a PS5.
There’s good reason to believe that there’s substance to these internet whispers. Best Buy has restocked the in-demand console the last two Fridays in a row, so a restock today would follow that pattern.
As other retailers including Amazon and Walmart have restocked the PS5 this week, it’s logical to assume that Best Buy won’t be far behind. It’s unlikely that most other major retailers received a fresh allocation of PS5s this week but that Best Buy didn’t.
Our friends at TechRadar took to contacting Best Buy customer service this week and were informed that a restock was “imminent” — and seeing as a weekend drop is almost certainly out of the question, today is the only candidate left unless it slips into early next week.
Of course, it’s worth taking this information with a healthy pinch of salt: customer service staff aren’t always in the know about these matters. However, all the evidence is lining up, so it’s definitely starting to feel like a Best Buy PS5 restock is coming very soon.
How to get your PS5 from Best Buy
When Best Buy does restock the PS5 it will be a mad scramble for customers to complete their order, so you’ll need to be prepared.
It’s important to note that Best Buy will not allow you to order the PS5 from one of its retail stores. You must order your PS5 online. You can select in-store pickup from some locations, but you’ll need to complete the transaction online beforehand.
When the PS5 is back in stock at Best Buy it will almost certainly sell out in minutes, so you need to be lightning-quick getting your order through. Make sure you already have a Best Buy account and have all your payment information pre-saved so you can speed through checkout.
Setting up stock alerts, or following a PS5 restock twitter account, is also a smart move as you’ll need to be on the Best Buy website the moment that stock is released in order to secure a console.
If Best Buy doesn’t restock today, then Sony Direct is likely to be the next place that takes PS5 orders, as they haven’t restocked for more than a week.
However, some customers who managed to order a PS5 in Sony Direct’s last restock are still waiting to receive their console. Clearly, even Sony itself is struggling to fulfill the demand for the PS5.
